Eggs Increase Prostate Cancer Risk Dramatically!
In a study recently published in Cancer Prevention Research, it was found that men who ate more than 2.5 eggs per week had an 81% greater chance of developing lethal prostate cancer than men who consumed less eggs on a weekly basis!
The Study's Conclusions...
The study followed 27,000+ men for a period of 14 years. All were cancer free at the beginning of the study. It was the scientists goal to prove--or disprove--an association between egg consumption and prostate cancer. The results were startling!
Men who ate 2.5 eggs and more per week had an 81% greater chance of developing lethal prostate cancer, versus those who ate less than .5 eggs per week.
The Culprit?
Eggs produce high levels of arachidonic acid and lots of this compound, ingested when you eat eggs, causes the formation 5-LOX and COX-2 enzymes, which promote tumor growth.
A Possible Solution...
Life Extension Foundation, who reported this study, says that you may take the supplements curcumin, fish oil, and boswellia extract to help block the conversion of the arachidonic acid into those enzymes. If you love eggs and eat them regularly, it might not be a bad idea!
